edmerritt.com v7

edmerritt.com v7 is here (well almost). There’s still plenty to do including print & mobile stylesheets, thorough browser testing and adding content to the Work section. The basic structure is in place though and the wordpress backend is running smoothly so the rest should be sorted in the next few days.

I hope you enjoy the slick new elastic layout (try changing the text size in your browser) and isn’t it nice to be free of the gloomy brown colour scheme…

Looks good, nice colour choice but so many different elements remind me to simplebits.com such as the footer and the way you’ve set out your navigation.

All the best however, I’ll be sure as hell to check back here more often.

Looks elegant, clean.. but I agree with Jamie. It resembles simplebits.com..

Clean and usable: perfect, and simplebits? No, not really, maybe the navi, but 531 used a similar one at his previous layouts and nobody was crying Subtraction as this kind of navi is used widely…

    it’s kinda of obvious: http://quommunication.com/demo/news/

    Hi,
    looks realy amazing!
The only problem with your new design is that the background topheader looks like it is cut off on high resolutions (2560×1600). Maybe its better to use a small background image for the spotlight effect in the middle and a much smaller background image as texture for the header area…

One word about the simplebits.com/quommunication “problem”:
Maybe the designs look a bit the same way because of the topmenu link style (link name+ description below) only.
I think it is a good and new trend to add more informations about whats behind a link…and a trend is only good if someone “copy” it…and you are in a good company if you follow a trend set by Cederholm, Kuscan and Merritt…
and don“t forget Jesse Bennett-Chamberlains site:
    http://www.31three.com/
Not the same but the same direction of topmenu styling…
Its just a new trend: Love it, hate it, copy it or improve it. Just my 25 cents

I wasn’t talking about the menu i was talking about the rest of the site the red links gray borders on the body yadda, yadda, it just struck me is all, im all for inspiration and retooling, but at least change the link colors :D
