Craig Rowe, a colleague at Headscape, needed a new identity to for his personal website (new design designed by yours truly, also coming soon).
We settled on a strong typography based approach and the final mark was based on a purpose-built typeface. The italic letterforms were drawn to an isometric grid, then the whole mark rotated 22.5° to bring the characters in line with the vertical rather than the horizontal. The result is a bold logo with a distictive shape, reminiscent of a 1950's car insignia.
I added aditional character to the logo through the use of ligatures and other typographic flourishes.
